Exceptional Education at the Heart of the Community

Toothbrush Club

The toothbrushing programme is available to children in our Nursery up to and including year 2 to get children to understand the importance of brushing their teeth and to have the opportunity to do this at school as well as at home.

The children in Nursery, Reception, and Y1 & Y2 have been given their own toothbrush and toothpaste for use in school and the teaching staff in those classes have had training on how to implement this programme.  The Teeth team now come into school twice a year with a dental team to carry out dental check-ups on all the KS2 children whose parents have consented to the check and can and apply a fluoride varnish to help protect our children’s teeth.

Why is it important to brush your teeth?

It is very important to brush because when you brush, you are getting a lot of the plaque build-up off your teeth. Plaque build-up is harmful because it can lead to gum disease and tooth decay. It can also severely irritate the gums.
