Local Foodbanks
Fir Vale Food Bank:
Here is some information from the Food bank website:
St Cuthbert's Church has a food bank with a difference. It brings together members of the community to interact, share and grow in confidence in a friendly, open and non-judgmental environment. Unlike other food banks who ask for referrals, anyone is welcome. Each week our volunteers cook a meal for everyone to enjoy and whilst we do provide a parcel of food, we like to also focus on the social aspect of the community atmosphere.
Why the community needs us
Each week up to 80 people receive a bag of food, hot drinks, a cooked vegetarian meal, fresh fruit and most importantly it's a place to meet, make friends and all this helps to ease social isolation for many of the most vulnerable members of our community.
Our impact on the community
Each year over 3,000 food bags are distributed and up to 70 individuals and families helped each week. Support comes from many individuals and faith groups throughout the city. Our volunteers feel privileged at being part of something that supports so many people. The food bank runs every Thursday from 2pm - 3pm at St Cuthbert's Church, Barnsley Road, Sheffield.
Volunteers needed
Sorting of food donations, food preparation, welcoming, tidying, admin and development.
