Physical Impairment
Sometimes children need support from the Visual Impairment service, Physiotherapists or Occupational Therapists. They can come into school and support staff to deliver exercise programmes or give strategies to enable children to access the curriculum fully.
The Teacher and Teaching Assistant of the Deaf work in school twice each week with children that are level 4 in terms of their hearing loss on the Sheffield Support Grid. They work 1:1 with children to support their learning across English and Maths as well as supporting their communication skills and support to keep their aids in good working order. A specialist speech therapist for hearing impaired children and the audiologist will also work in school with the hearing-impaired children. The audiologist will fit take new moulds and fit radio aids where appropriate.
